Laundry Blues

Hi everyone hope you're well. This post is going to be the start of a long investigation all to do with micro-plastics. Last year I was introduced to product call a guppy bag by a friend of mine. We always talk about the environment and new things we've found so she told me about this bag that collects micro-plastics from clothes. I remember doing a bit of research and the product and thinking that I'd like to invest in one at some point but I never really got round to it. However when Christmas came around she'd actually bought me one to use in my own home! Essentially, it helps to collect synthetic fibers that come off of your clothing during the wash. You pop the clothes which contains synthetic materials into the guppy bag leaving the clothes that contain natural materials outside of the bag like you would a normal wash. Then put in your softener or washing powder where you usually would and you're good to go. When the wash is done you remove the clothes from the bag and the fibers will collect at the top of the bag (you'll see in the photos that I put along with this post). Then  dispose of these in the bin. However, I decided to collect mine and see how long it takes me to fill this jar. I have already, in around the two weeks or so that I've been using it, collected not a lot but enough to make me realize what comes off of my clothes when I wash them and that's just my washing. So every few weeks or probably more likely once a month, I'll let you know progress that I make with collecting the synthetic fibers. As always if there are any questions or suggestions don't hesitate to message me! Thanks for reading and I hope you have a good rest of your week!

The link for the website for the guppy bags and their company it will be posted below:
